Understand the difference between UV vs LED curing inkjet technology
UV inks are cured almost instantly by a dose of UV light. Photo-initiators in the ink react and cross link, or polymerise, forming a dry film. Because UV ink cures rapidly, printers can work quickly and economically. There are typically two types of UV curing lamps used in wide format inkjet printers: mercury vapour and LED. Fujifilm’s Dr Carole Noutary explains the differences and challenges in developing UV inkjet systems using UV and LED UV curing technologies.
